Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Ledger Leaf terminology, subscription tracking, smart forecasts, shared splits, and security.

Subscriptions, Occurrences & Transactions

What is the difference between a Subscription, an Occurrence, and a Transaction?
In Ledger Leaf, a Subscription is the recurring commitment or plan (e.g. Link3 broadband, apartment rent, Chorki OTT). An Occurrence is a single generated billing cycle (e.g. "Internet due Oct 1"). A Transaction is the actual recorded payment made against that occurrence, capturing the exact date, amount, and payment method used.
What happens when a subscription price changes in the future?
Updating a subscription's price for future cycles never rewrites or corrupts past occurrences or transaction history. Ledger Leaf keeps an immutable record of historical payments and price changes.
How does Ledger Leaf handle variable bills like electricity or mobile top-ups?
You can mark any subscription as variable. Ledger Leaf calculates an estimated placeholder amount using your recent average or a manual estimate, ensuring your cash forecast remains accurate before the final bill arrives.

Trials, Deadlines & Reminders

How does Trial & Deadline protection prevent surprise charges?
When you start a free trial, set its cancellation deadline. Ledger Leaf places it on your Trials & Deadlines board with red/amber urgency badges and fires customizable countdown reminders (14, 7, 3, 1, 0 days before) so you can cancel, extend, or convert before getting charged.
Can I customize reminder lead times?
Yes. In Settings → Reminders, you can toggle preset lead times (14, 7, 3, 1, or 0 days before due date) or configure custom notification intervals.

Insights, Forecast & Payment Sources

What is the Confidence Breakdown in the Forecast?
The Forecast projects your cash outflow over 30 days, 3 months, 6 months, or 1 year. The Confidence Breakdown clearly separates firm confirmed subscriptions from variable bill estimates, so you know exactly how reliable the projection is.
What is the Payment Sources funding check?
Payment Sources calculates the exact total amount due from each specific card, mobile wallet (bKash, Nagad), or bank account in upcoming days. This lets you top up the right account before automatic debits occur.
How does multi-currency normalization work?
You can log subscriptions in USD, EUR, GBP, BDT, or other currencies. Ledger Leaf stores exact minor units in the native currency and converts them to your primary home currency for consolidated dashboards and forecasts.

Shared Groups, Bill Splitting & Settlements

How does bill splitting work for families and roommates?
You can create a Shared Group (e.g. household, family plan), invite members, and attach subscriptions. Ledger Leaf splits the cost across members and provides a Settlements dashboard to track who owes whom and mark shares as settled.

Platform, Multi-Currency & Security

What primary and foreign currencies does Ledger Leaf support?
Ledger Leaf uses BDT (৳) as its primary base currency and supports logging foreign subscriptions in USD ($), EUR (€), GBP (£), and other currencies with automatic foreign exchange conversion into your BDT totals.
Is the Web App live now? When is Android launching?
The Web App is fully live and accessible on any desktop or mobile browser. The native Android application is currently in development and coming soon to Google Play.
Can I export my financial records anytime?
Yes. You can export your subscriptions and complete payment activity ledger to spreadsheet-ready CSV files anytime with zero lock-in.
